Audience
Hunters come to Hunt Bums to decide what to buy.
Hunt Bums is an independent hunting publication covering waterfowl, upland, big game, firearms, gear, and destinations. Our readers are comparing specific shotguns, rifles, ammunition, optics, apparel, and equipment, along with the clubs, lodges, and outfitters where they’ll hunt next, and they read closely before they spend.
Hunting and outdoor brands advertise with Hunt Bums through sponsored field content, sponsorship of The Dispatch email newsletter, annual partnerships, and research sponsorship. Agencies, retailers, dealers, outfitters, and hunt clubs can book the same programs.

Firearms and ammunition
Where firearms and ammunition brands reach hunters who are ready to buy.
Shotguns, rifles, pistols, optics, and ammunition are core Hunt Bums coverage, and firearms and gear are our most-read categories in every month of the year. These are the categories where major ad platforms limit what a brand can run. On Hunt Bums, a feature or a Dispatch placement can show the gun or the load in use, explain what it does, and link straight to your product and dealer pages.
Readers shopping specific platforms
Our firearms readers compare actions, gauges, calibers, optics, and loads before they buy. Coverage runs from waterfowl and upland shotguns to big game rifles, carry pistols, red dots, and riflescopes.
Ammunition hunters actually choose
Hunters pick loads by species, range, and gun, and they read before they buy a case. Our Best Waterfowl Loads 2026 guide compares 20 steel loads, and load coverage runs through our shotgun and rifle reviews.
Direct links that ad platforms restrict
Search and social ad networks restrict firearms and ammunition advertising. A sponsored Hunt Bums feature or email can name the product, show it, and send readers to your product page or dealer locator.
The rounds behind the coverage
Our firearms coverage reports the hunts and round counts behind it, like the 2,000 rounds through each pistol in our SIG P365 vs Hellcat Pro comparison. Readers know we shoot what we write about.
Guns and loads in one campaign
A shotgun or rifle and the ammunition built for it can run in the same Field Campaign, hunted together through the season and covered in one feature with links to both.
Licensed shipping, handled
Firearms ship to our writers through a licensed FFL. With writers across the country, a gun can be hunted in more than one region and season.

Why Hunt Bums
What your brand gets from a Hunt Bums partnership.
A direct line to hunters
The Dispatch lands in 15,000+ inboxes that asked for it, and our articles are found by hunters searching for the gear we cover. Your campaign doesn’t depend on a social algorithm.
Content that keeps working
A sponsored feature stays published and searchable long after the campaign ends. The original field photography can be licensed for your own channels.
Coverage hunters trust
Our reviews are not for sale and sponsored work is always labeled. Readers know the difference, and that is what gives a sponsored feature on Hunt Bums its weight.
Direct links for firearms and ammunition
Major ad platforms restrict how firearms and ammunition can be advertised. A Hunt Bums article or email can link straight to your product and dealer pages.
Programs
Three ways to put your brand in front of hunters.
Start with one product, build through a season, or partner for the full year. Every other way to work with us is listed below.
For one product
Field Campaign
We hunt with your product through its season, then publish a long-form feature that shows hunters how it works in real conditions.
- Field testing in the season the product was built for
- One long-form sponsored field feature, clearly labeled
- Original photography for publication
- Newsletter and social support during the campaign
- Direct links to your product or dealer pages
Testing and publication dates are agreed around the product and its season. Photography can be licensed for your own channels.
For sustained seasonal visibility
Season Program
Stay in front of hunters through the weeks they’re buying, with two field features and a steady presence in The Dispatch.
- Two sponsored field features
- Four sponsored newsletter placements, each inside a regular issue
- Social support through the season
- A season plan built with Casey
Compared with a Field Campaign, you get multiple features, repeated distribution, and one coordinated plan for the season.
For a year-round relationship
Official Partner
Own your product category on Hunt Bums for the year, with field content every quarter and your brand in The Dispatch every month.
- Four sponsored field features, one each quarter
- A Dispatch placement every month, 12 in all
- Two dedicated emails for launches or key dates
- Photography from every feature, licensed for your website and organic social for 12 months
- Official partner status and sponsorship exclusivity in your product category
- First option on research sponsorship and on renewal
- Quarterly planning with Casey
One partner per product category. Exclusivity covers sponsorship inventory. Independent editorial coverage continues, including reviews of competing products.
Claim your category
Brands that book a Field Campaign, Season Program, or annual partnership get first option on their product category when they renew.

- How it’s labeled: “Sponsored,” under a “From Our Partner” heading. One partner placement per issue.

Editorial standards
Credible coverage starts with honest testing.
Hunt Bums reviews are not for sale. Paid programs fund agreed content production and distribution, and sponsored work is always labeled. When a brand loans or provides a product for an independent review, the review says so. Brands can flag factual errors in sponsored work before it publishes. Payment does not buy a rating, a verdict, or coverage in our independent reviews and gear guides.
How it works
From first email to published feature in four steps.
-
Step 1
Tell us what you’re promoting
Send the product, your objective, and your timing through the form or by email.
-
Step 2
Agree the scope
You receive a written proposal with deliverables and a schedule. We can cover it on a short call when that helps.
-
Step 3
We do the field work
Your product goes into real hunting conditions. Firearms ship to our writers through a licensed FFL. You review sponsored work for factual accuracy before it publishes.
-
Step 4
We publish and distribute
The feature goes live on Hunt Bums and out to hunters through The Dispatch and our social channels on the dates we agreed.
Availability and testing requirements affect publication timing. A product tested through a season publishes after that season’s field work is done.
Questions
Questions about advertising and partnering with Hunt Bums.
How can a hunting brand advertise with Hunt Bums?
Hunting, firearms, ammunition, optics, apparel, and gear brands advertise with Hunt Bums through sponsored field content, sponsorship of The Dispatch email newsletter, annual partnerships, research sponsorship, and content licensing. Send a request through the form or email partnerships@huntbums.com, and Casey will reply with a recommended scope, a schedule, and a proposal.
Who reads Hunt Bums?
Hunt Bums readers are active hunters across all 50 states who research gear, firearms, and hunts before they buy. More than 15,000 subscribe to The Dispatch, and 10,000+ visitors a month find our articles, most of them through search. Coverage spans waterfowl, upland and bird hunting, big game, firearms, gear, and destinations, so a partner can reach the readers in its own category or across several.
Which program should we start with?
If you have one product to explain, start with a Field Campaign. It has a defined scope and a defined end, so you can judge the work before committing to more. Choose a Season Program when you need repeated exposure through a buying period, and an Official Partner program when you want a planned presence across the year. If you only need a timely mention, a Newsletter Placement is the smallest way to start. If you aren’t sure, choose “Help me choose” on the form and Casey will recommend one.
What does a Field Campaign include?
A Field Campaign includes field use of the product in its season, one long-form sponsored field feature, publication photography, direct links to your site, and newsletter and social support during the campaign. Travel for destination work, additional content, sponsorship exclusivity, and rights to reuse content in your own channels can be added. Your proposal lists every deliverable before you commit.
Can a brand pay Hunt Bums for a product review?
No. Hunt Bums reviews are not for sale, and neither are ratings or places in our gear guides. Brands can send a product for independent editorial consideration at no cost, with no guarantee of coverage or of a positive result. What a brand can buy is clearly labeled sponsored content, newsletter sponsorship, and the other programs on this page.
Can firearms and ammunition brands advertise with Hunt Bums?
Yes. Shotguns, rifles, pistols, optics, and ammunition are core Hunt Bums coverage, and firearms and gear are our most-read categories year-round. Major ad platforms restrict firearms and ammunition advertising, while a sponsored Hunt Bums feature or Dispatch placement can show the product and link directly to your product and dealer pages. Firearms ship to our writers through a licensed FFL, and a gun and its ammunition can run together in one Field Campaign. Choose “Firearms or Ammunition Campaign” on the form and Casey will recommend a program.
How soon can a campaign run?
Timing depends on the product and its season. A Newsletter Placement or Dedicated Email can usually run within about two weeks, subject to issue availability. A Sponsored Feature needs time for writing and your factual review. A Field Campaign follows the product through the hunting it was built for, so it publishes after that field work is done. Tell us your launch or season date and your proposal will include a schedule.
Can we reuse the photography and content?
Programs cover publication on Hunt Bums channels. Reuse by your brand is licensed separately. The license states where the content can be used, such as your website, organic social, paid advertising, or retail, and for how long. Tell us what you plan to do with the content and we’ll include the rights in your proposal.
Does Hunt Bums work with agencies, retailers, outfitters, and hunt clubs?
Yes. Agencies can book any program on behalf of a client, and the Hunt Bums Press Kit is available to download without a form. Retailers and dealers can build a program around the products they sell. Outfitters, clubs, and lodges can book a Destinations listing or commission a sponsored destination feature, which is scoped per property.
